How to Measure a Shirt You Already Own
The easiest way to find your size: lay a shirt you love flat and measure these three dimensions.
Chest Width
Lay the shirt flat. Measure straight across from armhole to armhole, 1 inch below the armhole seams.
Body Length
From the highest point of the shoulder (next to the collar), measure straight down to the bottom hem.
Sleeve Length
From the center of the back neck, measure down the shoulder and along the outer edge of the sleeve to the cuff.
Fit Types: How a Shirt Should Sit on the Body
Size and fit are different. Size is about measurements (chest, length, sleeve). Fit is about how the garment is cut to sit on the body — loose, fitted, or somewhere in between. Two shirts with the same chest measurement can feel completely different because of how they're tailored.
Most apparel falls into one of three fit categories:
Standard Fit
The most common fit — sits comfortably without being baggy or tight. Straight silhouette through the body, true-to-size sleeves. Best for: general use, team apparel, mixed-group orders, anyone unsure which fit to pick. Examples: Gildan 5000, Gildan 64000.
Semi-Fitted / Slim Fit

Relaxed / Oversized Fit

Men's vs. Women's Cuts
Men's and women's t-shirts have different proportions even at the same labeled size:
- Men's / Unisex cuts have a straighter silhouette through the torso, broader shoulders, and a wider waist relative to chest.
- Women's cuts are narrower through the shoulders and waist, with more shape through the body and a shorter overall length. The neckline is often slightly lower.
For mixed-group orders (teams, events, company apparel), unisex fits are usually the safest choice. They look good on most body types and avoid the complexity of ordering separate men's and women's sizes.

How to Pick the Right Fit
- Match the occasion. Corporate uniforms and team apparel usually call for standard fit. Retail merch and fashion brands lean semi-fitted. Streetwear leans relaxed.
- Match the wearer. Athletic builds often prefer semi-fitted; broader builds prefer standard or relaxed.
- When ordering for a group, pick unisex. It avoids the men's/women's size mismatch that creates returns.
- When in doubt, order one size up. A slightly loose shirt looks better than a too-tight one, and you can always tuck it in.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right size?
Pick a shirt you already own and love the fit of. Lay it flat and measure the chest (1 inch below the armholes) and the length (shoulder to hem). Compare those numbers to the size chart for your chosen style to find the best match.
Do shirts shrink after washing?
Cotton-based shirts can shrink 3 to 5 percent after the first wash, especially in length. If you're between sizes or prefer a relaxed fit, we recommend sizing up. Wash in cold water and tumble dry on low to minimize shrinkage. Shrinkage after washing is normal and not covered under our return policy.
What if I'm between sizes?
For classic fits like Gildan 5000 or Gildan 64000, size up if you prefer a relaxed look. For modern fits like Bella+Canvas 3001 or Next Level 3600, the fit is slightly slimmer, so sizing up gives a more standard look.
Are these unisex sizes?
Yes. All sizes listed are unisex/adult sizes. Women typically size down one size from their usual men's fit, or go with their standard size for a more relaxed look. Women's-specific styles have their own size charts.
What's the difference between fit and size?

Should I order junior fit for women on my team?
Generally, no — unless they specifically ask for it. Junior fit is designed to be tight and form-fitting, runs 1–2 sizes smaller than standard women's sizing, and has shorter sleeves and body length.
For team and group orders, unisex fits are usually safer because they fit a wider range of body types without size mismatches. If you do order junior fit, recommend wearers size up.
Why do different brands have different sizes?
Each brand designs its own fit. A Gildan 5000 Large is boxier than a Bella+Canvas 3001 Large, even though both are labeled Large. That's why we show the actual chest and length measurements for every style—always check the specific chart for the product you're ordering.
